Mary Portas adds support to Hampstead Restaurant Week

Posted on September 11th, 2014 by admin

The Queen of the High Street, Mary Portas, is the latest name to back this community event. At Property Divas, we love to get involved in our community so we were delighted when Hampstead Restaurant Week was announced for 15-21 September.

With some of our favourite eating and drinking spots, including the Hampstead Butcher & Providore, Gail’s Artisan Bakery and The Wells Tavern, taking part, the week long event aims to raise £10,000 for local charity Kids Company which supports exceptionally vulnerable children, young adults and their families.

A good cause, the opportunity to enjoy fantastic local food, with a range of special menus and offers (see www.hampsteadrestaurantweek.com/offers for details), and the perfect excuse to meet up with friends – we didn’t hesitate to mark it on our calendars.

Enjoy street parties, wine tastings, cookery classes and a number of culinary creations just for the week – including meals for Hampstead’s one in three canine residents, with meals supplied by premium pet food provider Lily’s Kitchen. Learn to make dim sum and brioche, bake cookies with the kids at Le Pain Quotidien, carve suckling pig at Goldfish, and master the wok at Wagamama. Or just enjoy sumptuous food at participating restaurants. There’s even the chance to win free meals – simply get your loyalty card stamped at four participating restaurants.

Now Hampstead has its fair share of celebrity residents, and we’re sure they’ll support the Hampstead Restaurant Week in droves (see how many you can spot!), but we were thrilled to see High Street doyenne and local resident Mary Portas lend her support to the week. “Brilliant initiatives like this are what keep our High Streets and communities alive,” she commented. “Good on you, Hampstead.”

Make sure you bring the whole family along to eat, drink and be merry, and celebrate our fabulous neighbourhood.
