London Wine Week, 5 – 11 June
Seven days of crisp whites, fruity rosés and deep reds? It can only be London Wine Week. Curated by expert sommeliers, the festival celebrates London’s fab wine scene, with multiple pop-ups and events pouring glasses all across the capital. Who needs a wine tour in Bordeaux when you can sip on world’s finest all in the comfort of London’s best bars?
Cockpit Arts Open Studios, 9 – 18 June
Ever wondered how to bend silverware into jewellery? Or how to throw a pot into a ceramic masterpiece? Well now you can find out at none other than Cockpit Arts, where more than 170 independent makers will open their studios to the public for some behind-the-scenes action. Admire British craftsmanship at its best and buy unique work direct from the masters. Your mantelpiece will thank you for it!
Perfume: A Sensory Journey Through Contemporary Scent, 21 June – 17 Sept
Time to stop and smell the roses. Somerset House’s multi-sensory exhibition tells the story behind not one, but ten extraordinary perfumes from the past two decades, and the fragrance masterminds behind them. From sharp, single-note elixirs to big bountiful bouquets, this olfactory extravaganza is sure to awaken the senses. Plus, if you fancy trying your hand (or nose) at concocting your own bottle, the perfume laboratory is at your disposal.
Open Garden Squares Weekend, 17 – 18 June
Whoever said London is a concrete jungle hasn’t taken a stroll during Open Garden Squares. From manicured lawns to tropical nurseries, more than 200 ‘secret’ gardens across London’s urban landscape will unlock their gates to an inquisitive public. Expect a feast of gems in some unlikely places (and a *bunch* of gardening inspiration)….
Spirit of Summer Fair, 21 – 24 June
Olympia Exhibition Centre
A festival of dreams, House and Garden Magazine’s Spirit of Summer Fair combines interiors, gardening and fashion all under one roof. Browse patio furniture, exotic plants, beachwear and everything in between for an easy, breezy (and stylish) summertime. Once you’ve perused all 350 stalls, toast to a day well spent at the champagne bar!
London Food Month, Now – 30th June
Celebrating London’s diverse culinary scene, the UK’s biggest food festival returns this June. London Food Month will incorporate hundreds of events across the capital – from a Scandi brunch and bubbles to an all-matcha afternoon tea. Experience global gastronomy at its finest!
Fahrelnissa Zeid, June – 8 Oct
Playful geometric shapes and bursts of colour, Tate Modern is celebrating influential Turkish artist Fahrelnissa Zeid’s larger-than-life abstract canvases in its summer retrospective. Exploring her infatuation with geometrical details, each of Zeid’s dazzling, jewel-like paintings will feel like you’re looking through a giant kaleidoscope.
